1/48 Henschel Hs 129

After three jet builds this year I felt like something quick and easy . Nothing in the stash from the good guys took my fancy so I pulled out my double boxing of the Hasegawa Hs 129 and Ju 87. The Hs 129 looked like the more simple of the two. Reading a few reviews confirmed this.

The aircraft I chose was an aircraft from  9 Ground Attack Air Wing 10 (anti-tank) Company Eastern Front: July 1943

The Kit

  • 1/48 Hasegawa Double Boxing of the HS-129 and Ju-87G (HSG 07409)

The kit is pretty simple to build and is reasonably detailed straight from the box (minus the lack of seat belts

Aftermarket

  • Generic Loar Roar Luftwaffe Seatbelt

Decals/Markings

  • Kit decals for the Swastika, L and stencils
  • I made masks for the national markings

Paints

  • Mr Color Lacquers main colours, (a Bit of Tamiya for the black green as well)
  • Mr Hobby for the yellow
  • Vallejo Acrylics for details
  • Gaianotes  for the Gloss coat
  • Dullcoate for the flat coat

Weathering

  • Artist Oils for the wash
  • Coloured pencils, pigments, pastels and Tamiya Weathering sets for the various streaking / grime marks

The Base

  • The surround is made from cheap skirting from Bunnings.
  • The grass is just a mat. I've been experimenting with static grass but IMHO for 1/48 scale the mat is just as good if you want a field with short grass.
  • Sand bags were from the Tamiya Set
  • Other vegetation was from various products I've collected over the year.

Build Threads

I figured I'd stick a 1/48 Tiger I next to the HS-129 to give a comparison of size.
