Another F-2A Update

Some  Eduard PE sets add little to the model but I reckon the F-2A set is worth the $16 or so, just for the Canopy and landing gear.

I could have  used a few more parts but I really couldn't be bothered.

Getting the curved piece on the inside of the front windscreen was difficult, as was adding the piece the rear edge of the canopy.

The landing gear stuff was simpler.

Another good piece adds the prominent ridge on the canopy edge.

I also finally got around to painting the wheel wells. Great detail but hard to paint, and no one will see it. Plus I already know I will be having issues ensuring the landing gears is aligned correctly.

I've started the stickers... man there is a lot of them

1/48 Tamiya Sturmgeschütz III Ausf.G Build Commences

Although I'm a primarily an aircraft modeller I do enjoy armour modelling. If  fact I often find armour models more interesting to the eye. 


So for me, 1/48 scale armour is a perfect fit. Small enough to make them a relatively quick and simple build, but large enough to still add a bit of detail. Plus they look good next to my 1/48 aircraft.


This one has been sitting on my bench for a couple of weeks. The plan is a winter white wash finish with a heap of stowage, hence the Verlinden and Legend sets

I hit up the 48th scale forum at Missing Lynx for some advice on whether I should permanently attach the stowage prior to painting, or Paint them off the model and attach them later. 
The advice was a little a column a and a little of column b.

Yesterday I've spent a few hours fiddling with with the stowage arrangement on my Stug and this is what I've come up with. Some is permanently attached, but a lot I can remove and paint of the model.

If you're a experten you may notice I've used parts on this kit I shouldn't have, the plate on the front of the hull with the rivets being the main offender. That was a deliberate decision as I'm using this as an exercise in weathering/painting rather than accuracy, adding a rack of spare tracks there should to the difficulty

All that said, does the stowage arrangement look OK? Or does anyone have any suggestions to improve things. 

My only concern is the orientation of the rails for side skirts (which I'm not going fit) I reckon they should have a flat, rather than an edge facing outwards for the skirts to be attahced to (that's the way I'd have done it)

I do need to clean up the Milliput around the back,
