1/48 Hobby Boss Farchild A-10 Warthog (Thunderbolt II)


Another one from the Archives. Finished in 2009. It's probably not as weathered as it would be if if I did this today but it's still one of my favourite builds

 I've recent bought a dedicated raw editor (Corel AfterShot Pro) so am in the process of redoing some of my older photos.

This is the Wing Commanders Jet - Tiger 1 - 23rd Tactical Fighter Wing from Desert Shield and Desert Storm 1991

The Kit

  • 1/48 Hobby Boss A-10 - despite some accuracy issues IMHO its the best kit of this subject (to date) in this scale

  • Mr Color Lacquers for the main colours
  • Mr Color Super Clear for the Gloss coat

    Wooooonderful build Calum! One of my long time favorites too! I've noticed that to depict a 1991 Hog you had to delete all traces of the LASTE program inaccuratrly portrayed on this airframe OOB (antennas, slime lights, etc.) Do you remember the modifications you did to the original kit?
    The outcome is FABULOUS! I'm drooling while I'm cheching every entry of your blog. Top notch stuff everywhere!

      Hi Oscar. Thanks for the comments. I can't remember the mods I made, I did find a good thread online somewhere. I think I've you ask at ARC you might get the answers from better informed than me. I do remember taking stuff off the vertical fins.
